NAND flash demand is showing signs of a rebound with memory module makers seeing a warm up in demand from late August, according to sources at the makers.
Sources indicated that Samsung Electronics had informed memory module makers that Apple and Sony resumed procuring stock from chipmakers in early July but most industry players regard the news as just a means to spur memory pricing.
Near the end of August, some memory module makers who were bullish about the price trend started piling up inventory, which boosted prices considerably in the spot market, noted the sources.
Some memory module makers believe that the aggressive shipment ramp from first-tier memory card makers and the warming up of demand for NAND flash will push NAND flash prices up further.
