The overall water quality in the headstream of Yangtse River, Yellow River and Lancang River is good thanks to the effective measures taken to protect the environment of the Sanjiangyuan Area, according to a senior official of the Sanjiangyuan Office.
The Sanjiangyuan Area is known as the "water tower of China" and "kidney of the earth".
Li Xiaonan, deputy director of the Sanjiangyuan Office, Qinghai has taken a series of measures to protect the environment along the Sanjiangyuan Area by restoring grazing areas to grasslands and putting the soil erosion under control, which has greatly improved the water quality in the Sanjiangyuan Area.
The water quality monitoring released by the environmental protection department shows the water of the Sanjiangyuan Area has been keeping in good contidion for ten years.
