Chinese vice president calls for closer links with Russia

Xi said the successful meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Medvedev Monday deepened the two sides' strategic cooperation on regional and international issues while strongly pushing forward bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, energy, high-technology and culture.
Xi made the remarks when meeting with Medvedev.
Xi said both China and Russia are working to accelerate economic development and regard each other as important partners in economic cooperation.
He said the two sides should stick to the principle of win-win and mutual benefit while perceiving major and large-scale cooperation projects from a strategic view.
He said the two sides should let economic cooperation play an even bigger role in promoting economic and social development of both countries.
Medvedev said Russia-China relations have reached an unprecedented high thanks to the high level of mutual trust between the two countries.
He said Russia will unswervingly work on developing future-orientated Russia-China strategic cooperation.
