But soon they begin hitting one another over the heads with chairs. And so it goes on until one of the men crashes  through a window and falls thirty feet to the ground below. He is dead!Of course he isn't___42___  dead. With any luck he isn't even hurt. Why? Because the men who fall out of high windows or jump from ___43___moving trains, who crash cars of even ___44___ fire, are professionals. They do this for a living. These men are called ___45___. That is to say, they perform tricks. There are two sides to their work. They actually do most of the things you see on the screen. For example, they fall from a high building. However, they do not ___46___ on to hard ground but on to empty cardboard boxes covered with a mattress (床垫). Again, when they hit one another with chairs, the chairs are made of soft wood and when they crash through windows, the glass is made of sugar! But although their work depends on trick of this sort, it also requires a high degree of skill and ____47__. Often a stuntman' s success depends on careful timing. For example, when he is "blown up" in a battle scene, he has to jump out of the way of the explosion just at the right moment.
Naturally stuntmen are well paid for their work, but they lead dangerous lives. They often get ___48___ injured, and sometimes killed. A Norwegian stuntman, for example, skied over the edge of a cliff a thousand feet high. His parachute (降落伞) failed to open, and he was killed. In spite of all the risks, this is no longer a ___49___ for men only. Men no longer dress up as women when actresses have to perform some dangerous action. For nowadays there are stuntgirls, too.

To learn English well you must learn about yourself. You must discover what your own special needs are in English. You should pick out what makes English different from your own language and concentrate on those parts. And above all, you should pick out your own personal weaknesses in English, pick out your own special problems, find out what mistakes you most often make and make a list of them.
It will be best if, in your preparation, you can practise doing the various sorts of work you will be asked to do in examination. You should then make a careful note of any mistakes you make more than once. Count up how many times you make each mistake, and the mistake you make most often should be at the top of your list, the next most common in second place, and so on.
For example, if your own language is Japanese, you may find the problem of articles comes at the top of your list. If you speak German, you may find using some of the conjunctions is your biggest problem. If your mother tongue is French, you find you are always having trouble with some of prepositions. And if Italian is your language, you may constantly forget to use a suitable pronoun when you should.
But these are only examples of mistakes typical of certain languages. They may or may not be your particular personal mistakes. As I say, these personal ones are the most important of all to discover.
65. To learn English well the most important thing is to _____.
A. learn about yourself as much as possible
B. discover your own special needs in the language
C. find out the difference between your own language and English
D. pick out your own personal weaknesses in English
66. The writer advises the readers to _____.
A. spend as much time on English as possible
B. take examinations of various sorts
C. find out their own problems in doing selected exercises
D. keep a notebook with the important languages points in it
67. The first item on the list should be the mistake you make _____.
A. more than once                  B. many times             C. most often      D. very often
(B)
In recent years many countries of the world have been faced with the problem of how to make their workers more productive. Some experts claim the answer is to make jobs more varied. But
do more varied jobs lead to greater productivity? There is evidence to suggest that while variety certainly makes the workers' life more enjoyable, it does not actually make him work harder.
As far as increasing productivity is concerned, the variety is not an important factor. 
Other experts feel that giving the worker freedom to do his job in his own way is important and there is no doubt that this is true. The problem is that this kind of freedom cannot easily be given in the modern factory with its complicated machinery which must be used in a fixed way. Thus while freedom of choice may be important, there is usually very little that can be done to create it. Another important consideration is how much each worker contributes to the product he is making. In most factories the worker sees only one small part of the product. Some car factories are now experimenting with having many small production lines rather than large one, so that each worker contributes more to the production of the cars on his line. It would seem that not only is the degree of workers' contribution an important factor, therefore, but it is also one we can do something about.
To what extent does more money lead to greater productivity? The workers themselves certainly think this is important. But perhaps they want more money only because the work they do is so boring. Money just lets them enjoy their spare time more. A similar argument may explain demands for shorter working hours. Perhaps if we succeed in making their jobs more interesting, they will neither want more money, nor will shorter working hours be so important to them. 
68.Which of these possible factors leading to greater productivity is not true?
A. To make jobs more varied.
B. To give the worker freedom to do his job in his own way.
C. Degree of work contribution.
D. Demands for longer working hours. 
69. Why do workers want more money?________
A. Because their jobs are too boring.                   B. In order to enjoy more spare time.
C. To make their jobs more interesting.                D. To demand shorter working hours. 70.The last sentence in this passage means that if we succeed in making workers' jobs more interesting, ______.
A. they will want more money
B. they will demand shorter working hours
C. more money and shorter working hours are important factors
D. more money and shorter working hours will not be so important to them 
71 . In this passage, the author tells us _______.
A. how to make the workers more productive
B. possible factors leading to greater efficiency
C. to a certain extent more money lead to greater productivity
D. how to make workers' jobs more interesting 

Modern man has cleared the forests for farmland and for wood, and has also carelessly burned them. More than that, though,he has also interfered with the invisible bonds between the living things in the forests. There are many examples of this kind of destruction. The harmfulness of man’s interference can be seen in what happened many years ago in the forest of the Kaibab plateau (凯亚巴布高原) of northern Arizona. Man tried to improve on the natural web of forest life and destroyed it instead.
The Kaibab had a storybook forest of largesized pine,Douglas fir, white fir, blue and Engelmann spruce. In 1882 a visitor noted,"We,who have wandered through its forests and parks, have come to regard it as the most enchanting region it has ever been our privilege to visit."This was also the living place of the Rocky Mountain mule deer. Indians hunted there every autumn to gather meat and skins. The forest also had mountain lions, timber wolves and bobcats that kept the deer from multiplying too rapidly.
Then,in 1906,President Theodore Roosevelt made the Kaibab a national game preserve. Deer hunting was forbidden. Government hunters started killing off the deer’s enemies. In 25 years’ time,6,250 mountain lions, wolves and bobcats were killed. Before the program, there were about 4,000 deer in the Kaibab,by 1924,there were about 100,000.
The deer ate every leaf and twig they could reach. But there was not nearly enough food. Hunting of deer was permitted again. This caused a slight decrease in the deer herd, but a far greater loss resulted from starvation and disease. Some 60 percent of the deer herd died in two winters. By 1930 the herd had dropped to 20,000 animals. By 1942 it was down to 8,000.
76.The destruction of the environment of the Kaibab resulted from _________.
A.turning the forest into cultivated land
B.interfering with natural cycle of forest life
C.forest fires caused by man’s carelessness
D.cutting the trees for building materials

A.25                      B.6                      C.18                    D.12
79.Years later, large numbers of deer in the Kaibab died mainly because of ________.
A.the cold                                          B.the organized kill

Initiated in Australia in 2007, Earth Hour is a time zone-by-time zone plan in which people around the world are encouraged to switch off  their lights for 60 minutes on the last Saturday night of March to show their concern about global warming and climate change. The campaign aimed to send out more and clearer messages to world leaders before they meet in Copenhagen in December to have a new global impact on curbing emissions of greenhouse gases. The UN Climate Panel says greenhouse gas emissions are warming the planet and will lead to more floods, droughts, heatwaves, rising sea levels and animal and plant extinctions.World emissions have risen by about 70 percent since the 1970s.
In Shanghai, China's financial hub, floodlights to illuminate some 160 buildings , including the world's third tallest TV tower "Oriental Pearl" and the 492-meter-tall World Financial Center, also went down.Skyscrapers with glowing windows dominating the night skyline are usually considered symbols of modernization in China. But Saturday night, going dark became trendy.
In many Shanghai outlets of international fast food chain KFC, people enjoyed candle-lit dinners after the restaurants dimmed lights.
As everybody can see, this will send an important message to the world that people in China are becoming more aware of climate change issues. It's a very special night because it sends an environmental message to us,too. We hope such an activity will inspire everyone to make energy saving a daily habit.
But in spite of this, not everyone is so convinced and agreeable. Some consider it a show for the moment. But I strongly support this kind of activity which may arouse people's concern about the environment by using less power .It is true that Earth Hour is just for one hour each year. One person may be small, but we can make difference if we work collectively to change our own behaviors.
Anyway,  the action showed millions of people want governments to work out a strong new U.N. deal to fight global warming , even though the global economic crisis has raised worries about the costs. We have been dreaming of a new climate deal for a long time. Now we're no longer so alone with our dream. We're sharing it with all these people switching off  their lights.

Part B Passages
Direction:  In part B, you will hear two short passages, and you will be asked three questions on each of the passages.  The passages will be read twice, but the questions will be spoken only once.  When you hear a question, read the four possible answers in your paper and decide which one would be the best answer to the question you have heard.
Questions 11 through 13 are based on the following passage.
(A)
My friend, Davies kept birds. One day he phoned and told me he was going away for a week. He asked me to feed the birds for him and said that he would leave the key to his front door in my mailbox.
Unfortunately, I forgot all about the birds until the night before Vemon was going to return. What was worse, it was already dark when I arrived at his house. I soon found the key Davies  gave me could not unlock either the front door or the back door. I was getting hopeless. I kept thinking of what Vemon would say when he came back.
I was just going to give up when I noticed that one bedroom window was slightly open. I found a barrel and pushed it under the window. As the barrel was very heavy, I made a lot of noise. But in the end, I managed to climb up and open the window.
I actually had one leg inside the bedroom when I suddenly realized that someone was shining a torch up at me. I looked down and saw a policeman and an old lady, one of Davies's neighbors. “What are you doing up there?" said the policeman. Feeling like a complete fool, I replied, “I was just going to feed Mr. Davies's birds."
Questions   11. Why couldn't the man open the door with the key?
12. Why did the man feel hopeless when he couldn't open the door ?
13. Why did the man feel like a fool at that moment?
(B)
Questions 14 through 16 are based on the following passage.
We usually think of history as the story of important people or events. But some historians are also interested in the daily lives of ordinary people.
We can get this kind of information from written materials like diaries, town records, of course. But strange as this way seems, we can also learn a lot from studying old family photos. Family photos provide clues about things like the size of the family and hobbies, and tastes, and family members. The number of children in a photo, for example, indicates the size of the family. The types of clothing family members wore for the photo suggest the popular fashions of the time. The objects children hold in their hands can give clues about the games they played, and their hobbies. The background of a family photo gives historians an idea of the room sizes and furniture styles, and even the wealth and social position of the family.
All of these details help historians understand more about the everyday lives of some of the ordinary people from the past.
Questions  14.What is the main topic of the lecture?
15.According to the speaker, what was most likely held by children in family photos?
16.According to the speaker, what can historians learn from studying the background area in a family photo?
Part C  Longer Conversations
Direction:  In part C, you will hear two longer conversations. The conversations will be read twice. After each conversation, you are required to fulfill the task by filling in the numbered blanks with the information you hear.
Blanks 17 through 20 are based on the following conversation.
(A)
M: I'm so sick.  I don't feel well.
W: You've been sick quite a bit since you got here, haven't you?
M: Well, for the past few weeks, the weather in this city has been changing a lot.  It's awful.
One day it's hot outside, and the next day it's raining.  No matter what I put on, I'm always
not dressed properly for that day.
W: You just haven't learned to predict the changing climate in this city yet. Many newcomers complain about the same problem. I've been here for four years and I rarely get sick because I'm always dressed properly for the weather.  But when I first came, that was a different story.
M: I know.  But what can I do now?
W: Actually, there is something you can do.  I heard that there's a weather hotline you can call in the morning, that will tell you the temperature for the day.
M: Yes.  I think I've heard of that hotline.
W: I'd like to find out if it really helps. Maybe you can give them a call tomorrow morning and see if it helps your situation.
M: Not me!  I heard that it's very expensive and I don't have that kind of money.
Blanks 21 through 24 are based on the following conversation.
(B)
M: Now tell me something about yourself and why are you asked for the job.
W: I left school three months ago. My results were fairly good but I have to support my family now. My father has recently retired after twenty years in a firm. My parents need the money to educate my younger brother and sister.
M: I see. Have you had any experience already?
W: I worked in a toy factory for two months.
M: That’s a very short time, isn’t it?
W: Oh, it was only temporary work. The factory wanted extra people for their busy season.
M: You must understand that this is not easy work , and the hours are long. You may have to shift work and work over time, too. You should start as an apprentice.
W: Will I be trained by the company?
M: If you pass our tests, you will be able to go to technical school classes twice a week. The tests are held after you have been here two months. Then we can check your ability.
W: That’ fine.
M:I’ll give you a chance. Your entrance salary will be as in the advertisement. During the three-year training period, you’ll get an annual increase of a hundred dollars a month. Is that all right?
W: Yes, and thank you very much indeed.    听力测试到此结束,请继续答题。
