Somali President sharif Sheikh Ahmed on Thursday named Mohamed Abdullahi as the country's news prime minister.
The new prime minister was named after Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke resigned from the post last month amid reports of differences with the president.
The internationally recognized Somali Transitional Federal Government controls only parts of the Horn of Africa country, including a few blocs in the capital Mogadishu with the backing of the African Union peacekeeping mission.
