Nicaragua: IX EXPOAPEN 2009 - Export Trade Fair

Conscious of the importance that equal opportunities has for businessman and companies in a strong and globalised market, The Association of Producers and Exporters of Nicaragua (APEN) is pleased to invite you to participate in the first Business Meetings for Nicaraguan Pymes, as an action of the AL INVEST IV Program within the IX Convention of the Exportable Products of Nicaragua (Expoapen 2009).  The purpose of this meeting is to offer you a negotiation space in which the Nicaraguan Pymes can have direct access to the European Market.

Nicaragua has a tradition of farming and ranching. It has a total of 3.6 million very fertile hectares of land. A very positive component is that the agro climatic conditions and large water reserves for irrigation, offer a great opportunity for the production of crops with export potential.

The fact that organic agriculture has expanded in recent years has created the opportunity to supply larger quantities of organic agricultural products.

The products that at the moment are marked as potential exportable commodities to the European market are among others: fruits and vegetables, honey bees, grains and seed (coffee, cacao, and sesame seed – organic and conventional), beverages, seafood.

In recent years, Nicaragua has focused its trade policy on promoting exports and particularly on maintaining a stable regulatory framework, in which are included the Free Trade Agreements signed with the Association Agreement between the Central American countries and the European Union countries.

It is important to be aware if the consolidation of the country's business climate is preceding successfully, according to Doing Business 2009, part of the annual publication of the World Bank, which provides an objective measurement of regulations for doing business in any country. Nicaragua is one of the best places to start a business within the Central American.  

You will have the opportunity to meet, through a business meeting agenda and under specific business interests, small and medium size companies dedicated to grow and sell different agricultural products. The presence of your company and yourself will be of vital importance to enhance the trade relationships between Nicaragua, as part of the Central American region, and the European Union’s countries.

The Expoapen will be held at the Convention Center of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Managua, Nicaragua on September 26th and 27th 2009.
