Republic of Nicaragua to start meat exports to Russia 28 Aug 2009

Russia will attempt to establish relations in meat trade with emerging nations, in particular Nicaragua, Russian media reports.

Nicaragua expects to supply Russia with 12 thousand tonnes of read meat per year, according to the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Nicaragua Ariel Bukardo.
 Checking local livestock farms
"We have received good responses from Russia's veterinary inspectors," said the Minister. He said that Russian specialists after two weeks of checking local livestock farms and slaughterhouses in the north of Nicaragua gave permission for delivery of Nicaraguan beef and pork to Russia.

"We showed our readiness to enter new markets, which is very important for domestic meat producers, because of their dependence on the US market." According to Bukardo, an average price of the Nicaraguan red meat in Russia will not exceed three thousand dollars per tonne.

High quality meatNicaragua is known as a supplier of ecologically pure meat of very high quality, which is highly valued in foreign markets.
