Three militants held responsible for the terrorist attack last month in southern Russian city of Vladikavkaz that killed some 19 people have been arrested, said Director of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) Alexander Bortnikov on Tuesday.
"The terror attacks, carried out in the Republic of North Ossetia -- on the central market of Vladikavkaz and at a police checkpoint on the Kavkaz federal highway at the border with Ingushetia in August and September - have been cleared up," said the FSB head as quoted by the Interfax news agency.
Another two insurgents were killed, said Bortnikov at a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee.
The powerful explosion that also injured over 200 people was masterminded by Isa Khashagulgov, one close accomplice of Chechen militant leader Doku Umarov, said Bortnikov, adding that his gang was also involved in over 10 blasts in Ingushetia.
"It has been established and confirmed in corresponding procedures, that these terror attacks were organized by (Chechen warlord) Doku Umarov's nearest associate Isa Khashagulgov, who coordinated all criminal armed groups in Ingushetia," Bortnikov said.
