Mutual support for each other's core interests important part of China-Russia ties: joint statement

An important part of China-Russia strategic relationship is mutual support for each other's core interests, including national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, said a joint statement released here on Tuesday.
The statement was signed by Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev after their talks in Beijing on Monday.
Russia reiterated in the statement its support for China defending its national unity and territorial integrity, saying it firmly supported China's stance and principles on issues related to Taiwan, Tibet and Xinjiang.
China expressed its support for Russia's efforts to safeguard its core interests and promote peace and stability in the area of Caucasus and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The two sides also signed on Monday an agreement on the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism after the two leaders' talks. The statement said the newly-signed agreement laid a solid groundwork for bilateral cooperation in combating those threats.
The joint statement said the two countries agreed to extend the role of the China-Russia anti-terrorism working group to counter all the new threats and new challenges, and hold regular meetings within the framework of the working group.
Concerning the past, the two sides said they were opposed to the attempts to falsify WWII history, glorify the Nazis, militarists and their accomplices, and tarnish the liberators.
China and Russia also pledged to maintain close contact at high levels and other levels, and deepen exchanges of views on bilateral ties and important international affairs of common concern, and continue to enhance mutual trust, said the joint statement.
