Los Angeles, CA

DreamHost is looking for an experienced Network System Administrator for its Los Angeles office!

We need somebody who can easily get along with a small team of other admins and interface with support personnel on day-to-day issues. As a member of the admin team, your mission will be to keep our large (and growing) server farm of (Debian) Linux machines up and happy! This means about equal parts hardware and software work, and about equal parts dealing with problems that already exist and taking steps to attempt to head off problems that are just threatening to exist. It also means equal parts coffee and sleeping pills (for after you do a graveyard shift, not for killing yourself, sheesh!).

You must be willing to work periodic graveyard shifts (M-Th, 10pm-8am), and occassional weekend on-calls (available via pager / cell phone).

Salary depends on experience, and is highly competitive.

Required skills:

·       General Networking including TCP/IP and both Fiber and Copper Ethernet

·       Cisco IOS experience including: standard and extended ACLs, 802.1q VLAN trunking, HSRP, Port Channels, General BGP experience

TECHNICAL SUPPORT REPRESENTATIVE
Los Angeles, CA & Brea, CA

We're ALWAYS on the look out for good support people.

If you're located in or around the Brea or Downtown Los Angeles area, have good English language and touch-typing skills, Unix/Linux command-line experience, and (preferably) some customer-support experience, we'd like to hear from you! (Technical support here is 95% email and 5% phone calls.)

We could go on and on about how we're looking to hire "dynamic individuals to work in a fast-paced environment," and that ideal candidates would possess "a combination of solid technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to interact with a cutting-edge team of professionals," and blah blah blah. We could say all that, but companies say that crap all the time and they don't really care about who you are, just what you know.

We are SO not like that! If you're cool and enjoy jokes about ninjas and pirates, you'll probably get the job. If you come to the interview wearing a tie acting all high and mighty like it'd be some kind of honor for you to work for us, you probably won't get the job. You laugh now, but it's happened before!

Shifts start between 6AM and 2PM every day. This is a five-day-a-week position, however new hires may have to work both weekend days.

Salary starts at $30-35k, based on experience.

Benefits include:

·       Full health/vision/dental

·       401(k) plan

·       Profit sharing

·       Generous time-off (up to 5 weeks after 3 years!)

·       Flex time (work from home up to every other day!)

·       Upward mobility (typically all other jobs in the company are promoted from tech support!)

·       Laid-back atmosphere

·       Free snacks and soft drinks

·       Free web hosting!

·       And more!

Apply via this form...
We'll store your application and if the stars are right, contact you for an interview!

I need help setting up my mail client, I can't seem to get it to work. I know that my email address is bob@bigboy.com, but I also know my username is m2345678 and my password is bobbigboy. How would I set up my email client to sent and receive email? I'm currently using thunderbird and I don't know what settings to put in.

Thanks for you assistance,
Bob Biggens

My domain and email stopped working all the sudden. What happened? Everything was working fine on your servers yesterday, then today it stopped working. Other domains on my account, on the same server are working correctly. What happened to this domain? Why would it not work but everything else on the same server work just fine? I have had the domain working fine for months on your servers.

Sad and Confused,
Sarah Soros
(Hint: All services that we provide are working correctly.)

How do I ftp to my domain? I'm on a mac and I'm not sure what to do in order to ftp. This is my first time using ftp. Can you explain how to do this to me? Are there any free programs out there I can use?

Thanks,
Noah Nothing
(Hint: His username is 'noah', password is 'nothing', hostname is 'noahnada.com'.)

Hello Happy DreamHost Support Team,

I have a bit of a dilemma. I host my site and my DNS on your services, but I'm not super happy about the spam/virus filters you have in place. So I'm actually just going to host my mail outside of your network, but keep the hosting here. What do I need to do in order to host my mail outside of your network, yet keep my hosting with you?
Thanks,
Happy Customer Joe

You guys suck! Email is always down. What is the problem this time? Or is it going to be fixed by the time you address my issue. I'm so sick of the constant up and down time. Just fix it!

Al.
(Hint: The admin team still doesn't know what the problem is after weeks of looking.)

Hey. I'm sad. Please tell me the funniest joke you know to cheer me up.

Thanks,
Da Dude
