November 26th, 2008

Dell has introduced new options for its Inspiron Mini 9 netbook. The updates include an increased solid state drive capacity, mobile broadband option, and new color choices.

The Mini 9 is now configurable with up to 32GB of SSD storage, which is up from the previous maximum of 16GB. Upgrade from the minimal 4GB to 32GB costs $100.

Dell’s 8.9-inch netbook now also features optionally built-in AT&T 3G connectivity for an extra $125. The 3G modem is available only in models that come with Windows XP preinstalled. Ubuntu Linux based Mini 9s currently do not support the mobile broadband modem. The AT&T service plan costs about $60 a month.

The Mini 9 Inspirons, which had been available only in white and black colors, now additionally ship with Cherry Red and Pretty Pink lids, or with stickers from artist Tristan Eaton. The red and pink options add $25 to the overall price, while inclusion a sticker costs $50.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 can be purchased through the company’s online store.
