Prospective students
High school students new to Dalhousie are eligible for entrance scholarships.
Transfer or mature students will be considered for scholarships after completing one year of study at Dalhousie. Refer to theCurrent Students page for more information. Students applying to third year Engineering please see theFaculty of Engineering for scholarship information.
There are three types of entrance scholarships:
Scholarships for which you are automatically consideredScholarships for International Baccalaureate (IB) studentsScholarships for Shad Valley studentsScholarships for which you can apply
The First Nations and Indigenous Black Students Scholarship is open to both new and transfer students. Please see below for additional details.
If you're applying for admission to Dalhousie direct from high school, you are automatically considered for several merit-based scholarships, listed in the table below. To be eligible, submit a complete application for admission by March 15; this includes:
an application for admission (including supplemental form, if applicable) admissions application fee official high school transcript (OUAC number for Ontario applicants) list of second semester courses, if applicable Test scores, if applicable; e.g. SAT, English language proficiency
Students with an 85 per centadmission average (min. 80 per cent for students from high schools within Atlantic Canada) as of March 15 are eligible for entrance scholarships.
All Canadian and International appicants are considered for scholarships. Renewable scholarships are typically awarded to students with an admissions average in the 90s.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Candidates are assessed for entrance scholarships based on their predicted IB Diploma scores which must be received by March 15.

IB Diploma and IB Certificate students are eligible for the IB Extended Essay Prizes.
