The selection of the Top 10 Weather and Climate Events Worldwide in 2010 was officially launched on Dec. 1, according to the China Meteorological Administration.

The public can vote on the Internet from Dec. 1 to Dec. 22 to select the top 10 weather and climate events worldwide according to their own opinions.

Weather and climate events such as the record-breaking severe drought in southwestern China during autumn, winter and spring, the constant low temperatures in northeastern China and northern China which have been a rare occurrence over the past 40 years, and the extraordinarily serious landslides and flash floods in Gansu's Zhouqu County are listed as choices for the Top 10 Weather and Climate Events in China in 2010 list.

Weather and climate events such as the rare constant freezing cold and snowstorms in the northern hemisphere were also listed as options for the Top 10 Overseas Weather and Climate Events in 2010.
