簡介
知識圖 (Knowledge Mapping, KM)，是一種以圖表方式表達的知識管理 (Knowledge Management, KM) 方法；知識圖有不同種類，稱呼也不少，大抵包括概念圖 (Concept Map)、腦圖 (Mind Map)－－以上兩種，也有稱為語義圖 (Semantic Network)、組織圖 (Graphic Organizer) ，此外，專針對推理的知識圖則稱推理圖 (Reasoning Map, Argument Map) 等。
網上商業與共享的知識圖（尤其概念圖）軟件極多，且大多能支援中文，隨舉一、二較流行的，例如Inspiration（國外學界極流行的知識圖軟件）或MindMapper（腦圖創始人Buzan 所開創公司的產品），十分好用，但是都要收費，單一版權的價格更由數十美元到數百美元不等，要學校購買的話，即便只一個教室四十台機的版權費，也所耗不菲；何況若要讓每名學生家中都安裝一套，絕非大部份學生所能負擔，因此，免費、支援中文，而又能作教與學用途的知識圖軟件，才是我們需要的。
這裡自鑄新詞 Mappingware，而不用 Mapware，原因有二：一、Mapware 有歧義，也可指地理科學上的地圖軟件；二、運用知識圖，關鍵是學生把資料化成知識圖的過程，而不是製作之後的結果，因此，用動態詞 mapping 表示。
開放（免費）軟件
免費、支援中文，而又能作教與學用途的知識圖軟件當然不會太多，但以下所列，也很夠教師和學生使用了。這些軟件，教師應逐一下載、測試，然後選擇一、二種感適用的，深入研究，構思如何在教與學上應用，並加嘗試。

Araucaria, Althena 與下列的 Reason!Able 都是專門的推理圖軟件；上表中的 Belvedere、MindDraw 等兩種概念圖軟件則同時可兼繪製推理圖，各軟件的功能各有側重，見比較表。
以下的 Reason!Able 並非免費軟件，教育版費用為三十美元，最新的 1p1c 試用版可無限期使用，但卻無法把製成的圖表打印或儲存。但由於她是較少有的推理圖軟件，因而也把她列出，俾教師能下載試用，看看能否把有關概念以其他知識圖表達。
