Some 2.4 million Jordanians are eligible to vote in the polls, the highest number in the country's history.
However, the country's election law, passed by the government while the parliament was dissolved, enshrined a one-person one- vote system which detractors claim favors tribes over political parties.
As Tuesday's polls were boycotted by the country's largest opposition party, the Islamic Action Front, many Jordanians cast their ballots along tribal affiliations and familial lines.
Fatima, an Amman teenager, said that she travelled back to her village south of Amman in order to help her uncle enter the parliament.
"I don't know much about the issues, but I need to support my family," the 19-year-old girl said.
