英文社交书信概述

社交书信包括的内容很多,如邀请信、推荐信、介绍信、证明信、贺信、感谢信等等。写社交书信时切记如下几点:

(1)所有的社交书信都有明确的目的。因此,写社交书信时要一矢中的。

(2)不要写不相干的事。

(3)写上必不可少的事实,如时间、地点等。

(4)不要在一封信中将商务与社交混为一谈。


证明书种类很多,有工作经历证明、工作经验证明、病情证明、留学生经济担保书、学业成绩证明书等等,是用来证明一个人的身份、学历、婚姻状况、身体情况等或某一件事情的真实情况。证明信的写法通常也采用一般信件格式,但多省掉收信人的姓名、地址和结束用语。称呼多用“To Whom It May Concern”意即“有关负责人”,但此项也可省略。写证明书要求言简意赅。

证明信(Certificate)
证明信包括下列几项:

(1)你是以什么资格了解被证明人或被证明公司的。

(2)你认识被证明人或被证明公司有多久了。

(3)被证明人或被证明公司的可靠性和能力如何。

  写求职信注意事项
1. Do not show a sense of self-inferiority(自卑感), for if you do not think you are worth much, no one else will. Be confident but do not boast. If you have some outstanding ability, simply state the fact and let the employer draw his own conclusions.

SAMPLE1: I am in excellent health, and an told that I make an especially good appearane for a secretary. I am well trained in all the duties and responsibilities of a good secretary.
SAMPLE2: I would bring more efficiency to the job. I would bring a delightful new interest and enthusiasm -- and that, of course, means more and better work for you.

2. To present a to-the-point description. Do not enumerate irrelevant trivial things.

1. To explain where the applicant has got the information about the vacancy. For example, he can learn it from his friends, or in the advertisement, or in some papers, or he just wants to try his luck.

SAMPLE: Having noticed the enclosed advertisement in this morning's South China Daily, I wish to apply for the position of sale's manager.

2. To Present personal information. This part should be a description of the applicants age, sex, education, working experience and specialty. It is in this section that the applicant presents his advantages or qualifications for the position. Details are encouraged, but the applicant should bear it in mind that exaggration or false descriptions are not allowed in the letter.

SAMPLE: I am 21 years of age. After graduating from high school, I took a two-year business course in Foshan Commercial School, studying both bookkeeping and typewriting. I now wish to enter an office where the work requires great individual responsibility and judgment, and where there is an opportunity for achievements.

3. To claim your referees(推荐人).The applicant is well advised to enclose in the letter the names as well as the addresses of two or three referees after he has got their permission. Referees are of great importance for obtaining a job, for they are the best and most persuasive support for the condidate's potential, merits and strength.

SAMPLE: I have obtained permission to give the names of the following persons as references: Professor Song Xieli, Director, English Department, Haitai University; Mr. Wang Qing, Manager, Human Resource Department, Chinese Import & Export Corporation.

4. To inquire the chance of an interview.

Compliment or praise a product or service supplier

FREE Tip: Be sure to mention specifically what you like about the service or product and, if appropriate, mention the names of individuals who have provided extra help.

Sample Letter #1: We want you to know that we are very pleased with the quality of service your company provides. We sincerely appreciate your responsiveness and the way you conduct business. We have recommended your company to others because of our satisfaction with your service. We look forward to doing business with you for years to come.

Sample Letter #2: We want you to know how much we appreciate the way you have cared for our lawns and flowers this year. I can't remember a time when our lawns have looked so nicely groomed and weed-free, or when the flowers have been more beautiful. Several visitors to the corporate headquarters have commented on how nice things look. Thank you for your excellent service.

Compliment or praise a speaker

FREE Tip: A speaker at a seminar, symposium, conference, meeting, or convention deserves your special compliments and praise if you benefited from his or her efforts. The speaker may wonder how the audience received the speech. A brief, sincere note with positive feedback will always be appreciated.

Sample Letter #1:I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation yesterday evening. Your delivery was so engaging that I lost all track of time. By any measure you are a very effective speaker and educator. I found your comments regarding future computers especially intriguing. On behalf of the Doe Corporation, thank you for a memorable presentation and hope you will visit us again.

Sample Letter #2:We want to tell you how much we enjoyed your presentation to our study group last Friday. We have been reading a lot about the history of our state, and your illustrated talk made it all come alive for us. Those of us who have ancestors who settled this region were especially grateful for your discussion their contributions. It was thoughtful of you to add those personal observations. Your talk also gave a great boost to our efforts to recruit additional members. Thank you very much for an enlightening and stimulating presentation.

If you write it, will they come? Need the right words for your Invitation Letter? Whether you're planning a formal or informal occasion, we'll help you find the words to make an excellent first impression on your guests with your Invitation Letter.
