哈佛图书馆训言
哈佛大学图书馆是美国最古老的图书馆，也是世界上藏书最多、规模最大的大学图书馆。有5位美国总统、30多位诺贝尔奖金获得者曾在这里学习过。
1638年，学校校务委员约翰·哈佛病逝，他把一半遗产和私人藏书捐献给学校。学校就以哈佛命名，哈佛的捐献成为当时图书馆的主要财产和资料。经过300多年的发展，哈佛大学图书馆的藏书达1000多万件，设有100多个分馆。不仅学校的每个学院都有自己的图书馆，而且还有各类专业图书馆。分馆大部分设在哈佛大学校园内，有的远在美国首都华盛顿市，甚至意大利的佛罗伦萨。其中燕京图书馆收藏有中国的珍贵图书；拉蒙特图书馆是世界上第一个供大学本科学生专用的图书馆；魏德勒图书馆是哈佛大学藏书最多的社会科学和人文科学的研究图书馆。
哈佛大学图书馆有一个目标。就是要使学校达到“教育的珠穆朗玛峰”，占据世界第一流的位置。他和国内外100多家的计算机数据库建立了联系，热情周到地为师生提供各种资料。
