佛克马的比较文学和文化理论思想--《中国比较文学》2007年01期

本文是国内第一篇专门讨论国际著名比较文学学者和文学理论家杜威·佛克马的论文,较为全面地论述了佛克马在比较文学领域内的建树:(1)作为比较文学界最早将文化相对主义加以改造并引入比较文学研究领域的学者,他对国际比较文学界的兴趣东移起到了重要的作用;(2)他对文学经典建构及重构的讨论,突破了“西方中心主义”的模式,为中国文学进入全球视野起到了推波助澜的作用;(3)在国际性的后现代主义研究中,他也打破了“西方中心主义”的束缚,使得一部世界比较文学史中有了关于中国及其他东方文学的描述。作者认为,佛克马的这些理论与实践为中国的比较文学学者提供了有益的启示:比较文学学者应为中国文学的世界性走向作出自己的贡献。

杜威·佛克马(DouweW.Fokkema，1931一)是荷兰著名的比较文学学者和文学理论家、汉学家，同时也是中国的比较文学和文学理论界十分熟悉的一位西方学者。他早年毕业于荷兰莱顿大学汉学研究院，获中国文学博士学位，后来在荷兰王国驻中国大使馆任二等秘书、文化参赞等职。任职期满后长期积极投身于比较文学教学、研究和组织工作，先后担任乌德勒支大学比较文学系讲师、副教授和教授，曾出任过该系系主任兼历史与文化研究所所长，19%年退休后任乌德勒支大学荣休教授。佛克马很早就参与国际比较文学协会的领导工作，曾长期担任协会秘书长、副…

　As the first articleexclusively dealing with Douwe Fokkema in the Chinese context,itdiscusses in a comprehensive way Fokkema's major contribu- tions tocomparative literature and literary theory:(1) As the first comparatistrecasting and bringing cultural relativism in comparative literaturestudies,he helped to make the shift of attention of internationalcomparative literature stud- ies to the East;(2)His discussion of canonformation and reformation has bro- ken through the“West-centric”mode ofthinking paving the way for Chinese literature to enter a globalscope;(3)In the study of postmodernism,he has also brokenthrough“West-centrism”by adding descriptions of Chinese and otherOriental literature to a comparative history of literature in English.Tothe author,Fokkema's theoretic contribution and critical practice haveoffered illu- minative revelations to China's comparatists:we shouldcontribute to the globali- ty of Chinese literature.
