Debate: Is China trying to shift stance ?

China has long been known to others as a giant nation who strickly follows its late leader Deng Xiiaoping's doctrine of "Hide its capacity and bide its time" (taoguang yanghui), keeping silent on most of international occasions. But right now,  in the eyes of the Western capitalists, China is becoming nothing but a country sitting on a giant pile of cash, an ecocomy so rapid in growth but so dependent on the global market that it simply cannot afford to sit on the bench and watch the rest of the world flounder.

In the meantime, the incrutable way for China's decision making process also stirs speculations and wild imaginations----Is China trying to shift its international policy ? And not at all accidentally, the national pride, deprived for centuries, is rekindled in the minds of the ordinary Chinese with a booming economy and a visible progress in the society at large. Correspondingly, the dream about the "great rejuvenation", along with the appeal for more say in the international organizations and the willingness to engage more actively in the global debate, permeates throughout the Chinese society.
