地球科学原理之十冰川造成地球均衡调整

从前几回已知,随着对地球的不断认识,人们就大地构造,曾提出过很多学说。比较著名的有地槽-地台学说(J. D. Dana, 1873)、大陆漂移学说(Wegener, 1912; Wegener, 1915; Wegener, 1929; Wegener, 2001)、海底扩张学说(Hess, 1962; Dietz, 1961)和板块构造学说等(Morgan, 1968; Isachs et.al., 1968; Mckenzie, 1969)。板块构造学说得到古地磁学、地震学和古生物学等众多科学依据和测量数据的支持,被称为20世纪地质学的伟大成就(傅容珊和黄建华,2001)。板块构造学说对2亿年龄的海洋和大洋壳的地质问题,进行了很好的解释(Mckenzie, 1969; 傅容珊和黄建华,2001),但仍留下一些有待解决的问题(傅容珊和黄建华,2001; Stacey, 1992; 宋春青和张振春, 1996)。为了解决大陆地质历史演化过程、地壳生长机制和板块运动驱动力等方面的问题,我们就现有地质学、古生物学、地球物理学、地球化学和古气候学等资料,对大地构造演化的地球动力学问题进行分析。
首先,我们来看一看冰川及冰川的形成和消融所造成的地球均衡调整。
1  冰川及其分类
冰川,一般可分为高山冰川和极地冰川。高山冰川一般分布相对分散,且面积和体积相对较小。
北极冰川集中在格陵兰岛,占全球冰川的9%。南极冰盖,集中了全球90%的冰川,位于南极洲上(秦大河和任贾文, 2001)。
极地冰盖,根据它对地质影响的不同,又可以分为三种:两极均是深海洋(海洋的深度大于冰川的入水深度,冰川不能直接和海洋底相接触)时形成的冰川——海洋冰川,两极均位于大陆而形成的冰川——双极冰川和一极是大陆一极是海洋时形成的冰川——单极冰川。
当冰川形成时,若是海洋冰川,不管冰川有多大,因其不能直接接触地壳,故它不能直接作用于它下面的地壳。同时,由于冰川的下部直接位于海洋中,由于海洋的对流(包括水平流和垂直流),相对于大陆极冰川来说,容易熔化。一般来说,这样的冰川不会造成明显的地质作用。
2  冰川造成地球均衡调整
第四纪时,北欧斯堪的纳维亚地区和北美哈得逊湾地区有北极冰川存在。自15000年前冰川消融,哈得逊湾抬升了300米。现在,这一地区仍以每年2cm的速度抬升。经计算,如果该区域要恢复冰川前的高度,并重建重力均衡,它必须再上升80米(陶世龙等, 1999; Stacey, 1992)。自10000年前冰川消融后,斯堪的纳维亚地区已经抬升250米,目前仍以每年1 cm的速度抬升(陶世龙等,1999; Stacey, 1992)。甚至有人估计,斯堪的纳维亚可能冰后抬升了近850 m (Gudmundsson, 1999)。以上证据证明,地球,这个被岩石圈圈闭流体球,的确有一定的塑性。当冰川形成时,冰川及冰川下岩石圈一道,因巨大的冰川均衡作用而下沉(Marquart, 1989; Davis et.al.,1999; Makinen and Saaranen, 1998; Davis and Mitrovica,1996; Boulton et.al., 1982; Clark et.al.,1994)。在冰川消融期,由于巨大的冰川逐渐消失,原冰川区的岩石圈反弹性上升(Peltier and Jiang,1996; Lambert et. al.,2001; Lambeck et.al., 1998; Gudmundsson,1999)。
