The Myanmar Union Election Commission Wednesday announced more election results in addition to the winning of the seats of representatives to the parliamentary house of representatives by three state leaders -- Thura U Shwe Mann, member of the ruling State Peace and Development Council (SPDC), U Thein Sein, Prime Minister, and Thiha Thura U Tin Aung Myint Oo, SPDC First Secretary.

The three state leaders represented the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) as candidates contesting in the Nov. 7 multi-party general election.

Quitting their military titles and representing the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) as candidates, Shwe Mann contested in Nay Pyi Taw's Zeyathiri township constituency against U Chit Sein of the National Unity Party (NUP), while Thein Sein in Zabuthiri township constituency against U Kyaw Aye of the same NUP, and U Tin Aung Myint Oo in Popathiri township constituency against U Hla Shwe of still the NUP.

According to Wednesday's commission announcement, altogether 60 candidates won the seats of representatives-elect to the house of representatives with 48 held by the USDP including Minister of Religious Affairs Thura U Myint Maung, Minister of National Planning and Economic Development U Soe Tha, Labor Minister U Aung Kyi and Minister of Energy U Lun Thi as well as Yangon Mayor Aung Thein Lin.

Of the 13 candidates, who won the seats of house of nationalities, 9 also belong to the USDP, while of the 109 ,who won the seats of region or state parliament, 84 are still represented by the USDP.

It was the second batch of results that the commission revealed, indicating that almost all the parliamentary seats are held by the USDP.

The commission had announced on Sunday the first batch of the election results adding up so far to 72 with the house of representatives-elect, 21 to the house of nationalities and 146 to the region or state parliament, in which USDP so far shares 56, 14 and 111 respectively with the three levels of parliament.

In Sunday's list of the house of representatives-elect, there also includes U Soe Thein, Minister of Industry-2 and U Maung Maung Swe, Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, while the region or state parliament representatives include U Thein Aung, Minister of Forestry, and U Nyan Win, Foreign Minister.

The USDP, claimed as having a membership of 16 to 18 million, was transformed from the government-backed biggest social organization -- the Union Solidarity and Development Association ( USDA) established in 1993.

The NUP is a party reorganized from the previous government's disbanded ruling Myanmar Socialist Program Party.

In the just-ended general election, a total of 29 million qualified voters across the country cast ballots.

Nationally, a total of over 3,000 parliamentary candidates from 37 political parties including 82 independents took part in the competition across the country's seven regions and seven ethnic states for over 1,000 parliamentary seats.
