Depth of field
The length between the front and back permissible circle of confusion is called depth of field. If the projection of an object is inside the depth of field, it is observed clear-cuttedly.
There is a formula to calculate the depth of field:
ΔL1 = (FδL2)/(f2+FδL)
ΔL2 = (FδL2)/(f2-FδL)
ΔL = ΔL1 + ΔL2 = (2f2FδL2)/(f4 - F2δ2L2)
where:
ΔL1 stands for front depth of field
ΔL2 stands for back depth of field
δ stands for diameter of permissible circle of confusion
f stands for lens focus
F stands for shooting aperture
L stands for distance from the object
ΔL stands for depth of field.
