The Wolong panda "Gege" successfully gave birth to its first baby panda on the night of Aug. 9, according to China's Wolong Giant Panda Protection and Research Center on Aug. 10.

So far, the pandas in the Wolong center have successfully bred 10 panda cubs from eight births since 2010.

The domesticated giant pandas in the Wolong Nature Reserve have currently entered their reproduction peak period. More than 20 pandas were successfully impregnated in 2010, and eight of them have already given birth.

Researchers are closely observing and testing the rest of these pandas. They are expected to give birth in the next one to two months.
